This ADS combines architectural design and conservation in relation to the city’s existing heritage. The aim is to consolidate disciplinary and theoretical knowledge, nourish critical attitudes and conscious design choices. The complexity of the project will be addressed in relation to all formal, cultural, material, structural and technological aspects, through all phases and always in coherence with the founding idea of the proposal, in continuous coordination between teachings and between teachers and students, until the development expected for the exam and the subsequent thesis.
This ADS combines terms such as complex architecture and conservation in its name and brings together concepts and tools for architectural design in the material reality of built architecture and the urban environmental.
The teaching aims to consolidate disciplinary knowledge and theoretical references, as well as produce and nourish critical attitudes and conscious architectural design choices. This approach allows us to address the complexity of architectural design and restoration with the appropriate awareness of its cultural, material, formal, functional, structural and technological components.
Architectural design passes through a careful interpretation of the project idea defined in relation to the specific context, identifying design references framed in their own relationship.
In general terms, the project must be developed through all suitable techniques, through different tasks and phases, pursuing its essential peculiarity simultaneously with the general system. In this way every consolidated concept of architecture becomes objective and its very representation, in its final and definitive form, will have to restore the coherence of the proposal to the basic founding principle.
The complexity of the architectural design process is managed in this laboratory through the interaction between architectural design, built heritage design, structural design and seismic vulnerability, design of systems for sustainable buildings, sustainable materials for built heritage, sustainable technology. To achieve real disciplinary integration, continuous coordination is essential, capable of managing the multiplicity of tasks that contribute to a design process, paying every consideration necessary to carry out the complete construction project.
Knowledge and experience will allow the conclusion of the Master’s training course up to the final exam and, subsequently, the preparation of the degree thesis.
